Spec Dash 70’s Era Modifieds/ Full Fender Fairgrounds/Coupe Class Rules
This class will be run at 18 volts.
• Chassis – Stock Dash. Also, you can peen/reem the holes in the chassis.
• Top plate - trimming of the top plate rails for body clearance will be allowed and only to the level of the top surface of the gear plate. Must remain under the clip. Also, you can peen/reem the holes in the top plate.
• Gears – Stock Dash, Delrin/plastic Idler gear allowed.
• Crown Gear – Any. Crown may be trimmed to .300 diameter minimum.
• Armatures – Stock Dash either 2 lam or 3 lam no lower than 16 ohms. Arm may be balanced and trued for better performance. Maximum spacing of .020 shims between the arm and the bottom of the top plate only.
• Magnets - Stock Dash Killer Bee or blue/white Maybe matched.
• Brushes – Stock Dash, either domed or new flat top v bottom.
• Pickup Shoes - Any. The range of travel may be limited.
• Pickup Springs – Any pickup springs are allowed. May be cut, squashed or stretched.
• Front end – .188 or .170 Delrin or aluminum rear press on rims. You may shim the front wheels to prevent side-to-side movement and bring the max-width to 1.3125. Not allowed to modify for the purpose of making an independent front end. Must remain static.
• Front tires - Any. The total diameter, including tire and rim, must be .333 or taller.
• Rear tires and rims – .250 diameter aluminum or Delrin wide rear wheels for Dash wide E slip-on tires only. You may shim the rear wheels to prevent side to side movement. and bring the wheels out to max width of 1.3125.
• Axles - Any solid or hollow material is allowed. Max diameter is .065. Max axle length is 1.3125 1 5/16”. You can use spacers inside and outside of the tub on the rear axle.
• Guide pin – stock or any commercial readily available plastic or Delrin T-Jet guide pin.
• The maximum allowable width is 1.3125 1 5/16”.
• All 4 tires must touch and roll.
• Body ( FULL FENDER CLASS)- Any plastic or resin replica of an American Made automobile body originally having a rear seat. NO GT or SPORTSCAR STYLE BODIES FOR THIS CLASS. NO Minimum weight. The body may be lightened and lowered. Wheel wells may be hogged out. All glass should be removed. The screen may be used in place of a windshield.
• Body ( COUPE CLASS)- Any plastic or resin replica of an American Made automobile COUPE body originally MADE FROM THE 1920’S TO 1940’S. NO GT or SPORTSCAR STYLE BODIES FOR THIS CLASS. NO Minimum weigh. Body may be lightened and lowered. Wheel wells may be hogged out. All glass should be removed. The screen may be used in place of a windshield. NO Lexan bodies allowed.
• Body ( 70’S ERA MODIFIED CLASS)- Any replica of an American Made automobile body originally MADE FROM THE 1920’S TO 1979. (ex. Pinto, Mustang, Vega, Gremlin, Chevette, Coupe etc.) NO PAPER BODIES ALLOWED. NO GT or SPORTSCAR STYLE BODIES FOR THIS CLASS. NO Minimum weight for this class. Body may be lightened and lowered. Wheel wells may be hogged out. All glass should be removed. Screen may be used in place of a windshield. The body may be clued to motor plate clip for the purpose of mounting. Hoods may be fastened to the motor plate in the same manner. The car must have a body and hood attached to the car.
One of a kind, custom, or home-brew parts are not permitted.
